Projects
- Ghana - CommuniTech is visiting Ghana this summer (early August) to set up labs for children and entrepreneurs. The students on the trip will build long-term relationships with many schools in Ghana (including KNUST and MEST) for further collaboration, remotely and otherwise.
- Middle School Mentoring - Beginning in the Spring of 2008, CommuniTech has started its Middle School Mentoring program aimed at teaching kids basic computer skills, computer hardware refurbishing, and a bit of programming too. The program is made possible with collaborations with the University of Pennsylvania's Civic House and School of Engineering, along with Drew, Wilson, Lee, and Penn Alexander Middle Schools. Each day is filled with fun activities such as making music videos, giving presentations, ice-breakers, and much loved break-time. Much thanks to the creators of Alice (link: www.alice.org) for a powerful tool with which to teach children programming.
- Teaching Arts-based Computer Skills with UC ArtsBeginning in the Fall of 2008, CommuniTech will be collaborating with the University City Arts League to provide West Philadelphians with arts-based computer training. Please stay tuned to find out more.
- New Orleans - CommuniTech revisited New Orleans this spring break to provide technical assistance and computer donations to struggling companies in the area. Find out more at the CTech does NOLA 2008 page. Pictures from the 2007 trip will be online soon.
If you would like to help with any of the above or would like to submit a proposal for another project, please contact us.

Projects History
CommuniTech's portfolio of projects is extremely comprehensive. Projects have been in the areas of software and hardware including: computer lab installations, refurbishment of machines, websites, and databases. A brief sampling of projects follows. In the summer of 1999, CommuniTech (formerly Puente) installed Ecuador's first public elementary school computer lab and connected it with another CommuniTech-installed lab in West Philadelphia. In the summer of 2000, CommuniTech built a 40 PC technology center in the heart of Pune, India that offered free technical training to those who couldn't afford it. In 2001, CommuniTech launched an ecommerce site for the Philadelphia Brandy Wine Workshop that allowed artists to sell their prints online. In 2002, CommuniTech installed computer labs in several West Philadelphia classrooms and offered training to both the students and teachers. Overall, more than a thousand people have benefited from CommuniTech's work.
